Analysis on causes of death and burden of diseases among residents of Yunnan's Surveillance-spots in 2007.

[Objective] To investigate the effect of the top five causes on the life expectancy in Yunnan's surveillance-spots in 2007,so as to provide scientific basis for identify chief diseases,sound distribution of health resources,and key areas of preventive intervention.[Methods] The data of causes of death at surveillance-spots in Yunnan(2007) were collected.DeathReg 2005 was used to analyze the causes of death,rate of Potential Years of Life Lost(rate of PYLL),Potential Years of Life Lost(PYLL),and Average Years of Life Lost(AYLL).[Results] The mortality at Yunnan's surveillance-spots was 558.37 /105 in 2007.The top five chief causes of death were cardiovascular diseases,respiratory diseases,cancer,injuries and toxicosis and digestive diseases.The total PYLL was 433 908.50 years of total deaths,AYLL was 20.90 years per person,and the rate of potential years of life lost was 58.45‰.The top five largest PYLL were respectively injuries,toxicosis,cancer,cardiovascular diseases,respiratory diseases and digestive diseases.[Conclusion] Chronic diseases and injuries were the chief causes of death in Yunnan in 2007.Injuries and toxicosis mainly contributed to the loss of life and working hours.Injuries and toxicosis had the great potential risks among chief death causes.Injury was one of causes of "early death",has imposed immense impact on the health of Yunnan's residents,and has become the major risk factor of loss of manpower and economic development.
