Static Behavior of a PV/Wind Hybrid System Structure

2019
Wind and solar power play an important role in supplying cities with renewable energy. The main objective of this study is to access the structural strength performance of a photovoltaic (PV)/Wind hybrid system for applications in isolated area. Therefore, this study requires two steps. First part involves modelling of the three-dimensional (3D) assembly of PV-Wind hybrid structure using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, namely, SOLIDWORKS (version 2016) and the second part involves in static response analysis subjected to the critical wind (Eurocode 1991-1-4 standard) and gravitational loads by using finite element (FE) method (SOLIDWORKS Simulation). The results from this analysis identify that the static strength and stability are qualified (no structural failure).
