Slope Stability Analyses Incorporating Soil improvement Methods for Valuable Urban Area

The study aims at identifying the Factor of Safety of an extensive natural slope of high social value, classified into 3rd geotechnical category (acc. Eurocode 7). The proposed engineering applications improving the geotechnical safety of the slope were mainly soil nailing, geogrid installation and restoration of existing retaining walls. After performing comprehensively prepared plan of laboratory testing and site investigation, the slope stability analyses using limit equilibrium method were performed. The computations revealed that the application of soil reinforcements allowed an increase of Factor of Safety by as much as 40%. The results were compared for different computational methods of slices.
