Faunistic data of asilis from the provinces of Asturias and León, Northern Spain (Diptera: Asilidae), with one new species for the Iberian Peninsula

The provinces of Asturias and Leon (northern Spain) were surveyed for Asilidae during 2011-2019, both using photographic techniques and capturing specimens. During the study, 34 species belonging to 8 subfamilies and 20 genera were recorded: Asilinae (16 species), Brachyrhopalinae (6 species), Dasypogoninae (3 species), Dioctriinae (2 species), Laphriinae (2 species), Leptogastrinae (2 species), Stenopogoninae (1 species) and Stichopogoninae (2 species). Of these, 15 species are new to the fauna of Asturias and 10 for Leon, with Dioctria meridionalis Bezzi, 1898 new for the Iberian Peninsula. Information on their prey when it is available and comments on problematic taxa are included.
