Method for producing cast article and breathable mold

2014
Provided is a method for producing a cast article, in which a permeable casting mold, which has a product cavity and a molten metal channel as mold cavities and in which the molten metal channel comprises a sprue part from which gravity-poured molten metal flows down and a runner which couples the product cavity and the sprue part, is used to gravity-pour a metal melt of lesser volume than that of the entirety of the mold cavities and of greater volume than that of the product cavity, and then gas is delivered from the sprue part and the metal melt inside the molten metal channel is pushed in, whereby the metal melt inside the product cavity is pushed up and the product cavity is filled with the metal melt. When an equilibrium state is presumed where the inside of the product cavity is filled with the virtual liquid by the delivery of gas, the metal melt of the same volume as the volume of the virtual liquid is poured such that the virtual liquid fills the product cavity and the molten metal of the same volume as the volume of the virtual liquid is poured such that a height (hs) of a liquid level of the virtual liquid remaining inside the molten metal channel, a height (h1) of a lowest portion of a ceiling of the runner, and a height (h2) of a portion where the ceiling of the runner connects to the sprue part, satisfy h2>hs>h1.
