A Study on the Efficacy of Recombinant HumanαD Type Interferon (rIFN-αD) in Treatment of Chronic Cervicitis

1987
A double blind controlled study on the efficacy of human rIFN-αD in treatment of 271 cases with typical cervical erosion was carried out. 93.8% of cases appeared clinically improved and 60% was markedly improved. The clinical theurapeutic efficacy was shown to be roughly paralleled with the negative conversion of HSV isolation after treatment of human rIFN-αD. 35 DNA samples isolated from erosive cervices were hybridized with [α32P] labelled pHPVs, among them HPV-16 sequence was found in 18 cases (51.4%); HPV-18-in 5 cases (14.3%); HPV-11-in 2 cases (5.7%); and HPV-6B-in 9 cases (25.7%). Obtained results suggested that HSV and HPV are closely related to the pathogenesis of cervical erosion and this type of chronic cervicitis appears sensitive to human rIFN-αD.
