Acceleration-based algorithm for long monitoring the micro motions on a stationary subject using UWB radar

2017
Long term monitoring of human micro activities along breathing is still considering challenging in noncontact vital sign measurements. A new detection method based on acceleration of micro-motion displacements is proposed through ultra-wideband radar. Micro motions responses due to different physiological conditions, including random body movement, coughing and speaking are quantitatively detected. Comparing the standard deviations of the proposed acceleration-based method and traditional velocity-based one, coughing produces the greatest changes but speaking the lowest, and the former performs better by highlighting the characteristic changes among those micro motions.
