Accumulation of radioactive elements by some groups of aquatic organisms

1958
We invesugated the content of radioactive materials in certain types of living organisms in an experimental reservoir with a constant specific activity of 2–4 · 10−8 curie/liter in the water. It was established that plankton, benthos and fish selectively concentrate P32, Sr39, Sr90, Cs137 and Na24 from the reservoir. The concentration of P32 in fish, plankton and benthos exceeded that in the water by three to four orders, and that of Sr89, Sr90, Cs137 by two to three orders.
