Reconstruction of the pelvic floor with human acellular dermal matrix and omental flap following anterior pelvic exenteration

Summary Pelvic floor reconstruction after pelvic exenteration is challenging, particularly with bacterial contamination and/or pelvic irradiation. Traditional regional myocutaneous flap options are not always avaliable, especially in the multiply operated patient. Human acellular dermal matrix (HADM) confers several advantages and is associated with less morbidity when compared to synthetic mesh used in these compromised wound beds. We report a clinical case of an elderly patient with an anterior pelvic floor defect, who underwent successful reconstruction with a combination of human acellular dermal matrix and an omental flap.
