Magnetic anisotropy of Y1−xDyxNi2B2C single crystals

Abstract Studies of magnetisation at temperature range 1.7–300 K for applied field parallel and perpendicular to the c -axis in Y 1− x Dy x Ni 2 B 2 C compounds are presented. All investigated crystals show a high magnetocrystalline anisotropy in both ordered and paramagnetic state. The anisotropic 1/ χ ( T ) data follow the Curie–Weiss law in the high temperatures and allow estimating the crystalline electric field parameter B 2 0 .
