Conclusions and Possible Future Explorations

The architectures proposed and designed, as part of this book, have been demonstrated to deliver superior performance when compared with standard wireline architectures and obtain similar performance with other wireless hierarchical Networks-on-Chip (NoCs). The results are promising, and they open up the scope for further research on NoC-based platforms having novel on-chip interconnects and architectures, and distributed cores and memories on a chip. The need for future research in sophisticated dynamic thermal management techniques and NoCs designed with power-management in mind are still required.
