thermochemical treatment in halogenated atmosphere, a carbon material, not little or very porous and device associates

1996
The invention concerns the thermochemical treatment of a carbon-containing material with optionally apparent porosity for generating by activated carbonisation a refractory carbide coating on the surface and inside said material in case it is porous; the use of specific alloys as carbonising mixture, for thermochemical treatment, in halogenated atmosphere, of carbon-containing materials with optionally apparent porosity. The invention is characterised in that the activated carbonisation is implemented, under reduced pressure, with the intervention of the element E (to be transported and reacted with the carbon of the material to generate the expected carbide) alloyed with an element M and halogenide (chloride or fluoride, preferably fluoride) of same said element M, not easily volatilised, present in solid form.
