Identification and medium for bacterium of genus listeria

1992
PURPOSE: To fix the subject pathogenic bacterium isolated from a dairy product, etc., with high reliability by adding a glycine aminopeptidase substrate to a medium for fixing in differentiating a monocytogenes species in a sample capable of including a bacterium of the genus Listeria. CONSTITUTION: A chromogenic substrate (e.g. glycine-2-naphthylamide) or a fluorigenic substrate (e.g. glycine-7-amido-4-methyl-coumarin) for a glycine aminopeptidase which is an enzyme metabolized with a bacterium of the genus Liseria is added to a medium for identification to measure the extent of coloring of a sample and the bacterium of the genus Listeria is then identified in differentiating a monocytogenes species in the sample capable of including the bacterium of the genus Listeria in a bacteriological analytical method comprising bringing the sample to be analyzed into contact with the medium for identification containing the chromogenic substrate or the fluorigenic substrate to be hydrolyzed in the presence of at leant one enzyme associated with the metabolism of at least one bacterial species.
