Highlighted Aspects From Black Box Fuzzy Modeling For Advanced Control Systems Design

This chapter presents an overview of a specific application of computational intelligence techniques, specifically, fuzzy systems: fuzzymodel based advanced control systems design. In the last two decades, fuzzy systems have been useful for identification and control of complex nonlinear dynamical systems. This rapid growth, and the interest in this discussion is motivated by the fact that the practical control design, due to the presence of nonlinearity and uncertainty in the dynamical system, fuzzy models are capable of representing the dynamic behavior well enough so that the real controllers designed based on such models can garantee, mathematically, stability and robustness of the control system (Astrom et al., 2001; Castillo-Toledo M Kadmiry & Driankov, 2004; Ren & Chen, 2004; Tong & Li, 2002; Wang & Luoh, 2004; Yoneyama, 2004).
