Guidelines for disposal systems

1967
In designing a disposal system, one of the first requirements is an analysis of producing formations, types of reservoirs involved, and the quantity of water they are capable of producing. While surface and subsurface mechanical producing equipment may have some bearing on anticipated volumes, the equipment can be changed. When the total volume of water has been determined, the disposal well formations and location must be selected. If no history is available, the probable capacity may be estimated by correlation of logs, sample analyses, and drill stem tests. The number and general distribution of disposal wells can then be related to anticipated water production.
