[33] Pressure-induced dissociation of ribosomes
1974
Publisher Summary In this chapter, there is first a section on the theory of pressure-induced dissociation; then a section on preparations. Next comes a section with a half-dozen tests to determine whether a system is affected by pressure-induced dissociation. How to avoid such dissociation is discussed briefly, and the final section explains at length several significant uses. The methods presented here have been used with sea urchin ribosomes; pressure-induced dissociation of ribosomes has, however, also been reported for rat liver and Escherichia coli ribosomes, and so the methods are very likely of general value.
