Excess volumes of an n-alkane + cycloheptane, + cyclo-octane, and + cyclodecane at 298.15 K by continuous-dilution dilatometry

1981
Excess volumes of (cycloheptane + n -alkane) (C 6 to C 9 ), (cyclo-octane + n -alkane) (C 5 to C 10 ), and (cyclodecane + n -alkane) (C 7 to C 10 ) have been measured at 298.15 K with a continuousdilution dilatometer. For cycloheptane and cyclo-octane the excess volumes were positive for n -alkanes with more carbon atoms than the cycloalkane, negative for n -alkanes with fewer carbon atoms, and sigmoidal for n -alkanes of intermediate chain length. The excess volumes of (cyclodecane + n -alkane), following the same trend, were negative at all except low mole fractions of n -nonane and n -decane where the value were small and positive.
