Preliminary study on effect of parity on short- and medium-chain fatty acids composition in milk of Xinong Saanen goat

2005
From the dairy herd of the breeding Saanen goat farm in Qianyang county of Shaanxi province,eighty-seven milk samples from Saanen goats of 5 parities were collected to assay the short- and medium-chain fatty acids and milk composition by using gas chromatograph and infrared spectrometer respectively. The results indicated a similar contents of Butyric (C_(4∶0)),Caproic (C_(6∶0)),Caprylic(C_(8∶0)),and Capric (C_(10∶0)) acids among 5 parities (P0.05);however,the parity had a significant effect on contents of Lauric (C_(12∶0)),Myristic (C_(14∶0)),Palmitic (C_(16∶0)),Stearic (C_(18∶0)),and Oleic (C_(18∶1)) acids (P0.05) except for the non-significant effect on linoleic (C_(18∶2)) acid content (P0.05);there was no significant difference in milk lactose content among parities, but the significant effects of parity on fat, protein, dry matter, and milk solid-non-fat contents in milk of Xinong Saanen goat were observed (P0.05).
