OCT-based measurement of Rayleigh-wave velocity in soft Materials

2013
We demonstrate a new technique for measuring the propagation velocity of Rayleigh wave, or surface acoustic wave (SAW), using swept-source optical coherence tomography (OCT). We establish a theory for calculating the SAW velocity of tissues based on the measured OCT images, which is then experimentally verified using agar and tissue samples. The SAW velocity calculated by this technique agrees well with the previous results.
