A multicolor phosphor of self- and Eu3+-activated La3Ga4TiO14

2018
Abstract A new phosphor of La 3−3x Eu 3x Ga 4 TiO 14 (x = 0–0.1) was synthesized via the solid-state reaction. The structure refinements verified the pure trigonal structure. La 3 Ga 4 TiO 14 has a self-activated white-luminescence at room temperature. This is special in comparison with the reported Ti-phosphors, which usually show the room-temperature quenched blue or yellow emissions. The near-UV and blue-light can efficiently excite La 3−3x Eu 3x Ga 4 TiO 14 (x = 0.01–0.1) showing the orange-red tunable luminescence with a dependence on Eu 3+ -contents. The experimental lamps were fabricated using LED-chips in combination with single phosphor of La 3−3x Eu 3x Ga 4 TiO 14 (x = 0, 0.03, 0.07) driven by 2 mA current. This is a promising candidate in solid-state lighting and displays.
