Women, Women, Everywhere: Looking for a Link

Although finding informationonline can be difficult no matter what the subject area, searches for women-related resources often encounter special challenges. This article examines some important shortcomings in online search tools' handling of queries about women, including the prevalence of pornography and the rating of websites by people who know little about women's studies. This article also considers the negative impact of inaccurate or out-of-date reference resources. After examining the abovementioned problems, the article identifies and describes a variety of online resources that can lead people to more reliable, substantive information about women.
