Voltage/Voltage Filters

2018
Most of the treatment in the text so far covered the special case of the transfer function which happened to be the impedance one. In that case, input is current and output is voltage. While that is one of the most relevant cases in circuit theory, it by no means is the only one! Another relevant case is voltage filters where input is voltage and output is voltage too! While the physical aspects change, the mathematics remain the same. Nonetheless it is worth examining such application cases and in this chapter we cover a few variants of voltage filters including low-pass filter, fourth order filter, high-pass filter, and a low-pass LC filter with resonance. For each case we derive the transfer function and use it to figure time response. As usual we compare to SPICE and observe excellent match.
