Experimental Investigation of Failures in Redrawing of Ti-6Al-4V Alloy at Warm Conditions

Abstract In the present experimental investigation, deep drawing and redrawing experiments were performed on the warm forming test rig to investigate the failures occurred during the formation of a cylindrical cup from Ti-6Al-4V alloy blanks ( 74 mm diameter and 0.9 mm thickness) at elevated temperatures (150°C-400°C). Various types of failures were identified in the failed cups. In addition, earing profile of the cylindrical cups were studied over a temperature range of 150°C-400°C for a perfectly formed cup.
