ASPECTOS PEDAGÓGICOS DA "ROTA DO PALEOZÓICO" (CANELAS, AROUCA, PORTUGAL) PEDAGOGICAL FEATURES OF THE "PALEOZOIC TRAIL" (CANELAS, AROUCA, PORTUGAL)

The "Paleozoic Trail" is one of the activities proposed by the Geological Interpretative Center of Canelas (Arouca). The preparation of this trail included the identification and caracterization of geosites in the area surrounding the "Valerios Quarry" and were selected attending their high pedagogical interest. These geosites are representative of a chapter of the geological history of Arouca, the Paleozoic. The Paleozoic rocks observed in this area, whose sedimentation occurred at the same time as some important episodes of the History of the Earth, occurred in a discontinue manner during a period of about 220 million of years.
