Investigation of computer and mobile phone-related radiation exposure time of Chinese adults

2014
Objective To know the exposure time for computer and mobile phone-related radiation of Chinese adults and to provide basic exposure factors for health risk assessment on exposure to electromagnetic radiation. Methods Based on the questionnaire of Chinese Environmental Exposure- Related Human Activity Patterns Survey( Adults)( CEERHAPS- A) in residents of 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China from November 2011 to May 2012, the distribution characteristics and influencing factors were discussed. Results The average time for using cell phone was 24 min/d for total,26min/d for male,22 min/d for female, 28 min/d for the people in urban areas, 21 min/d for the people in rural areas, 28 min/d for people aged 18-44, 20 min/d for aged 45-59,14 min/d for aged 60-79,12 min/d for aged over 80. The average time for using computer was 167 min/d for total,162 min/d for male,173 min/d for female,188 min/d for the people in urban areas,134 min/d for the people in rural areas,175min/d for people aged 18-44,144 min/d for aged 45-59,138 min/d for aged 60-79,146 min/d for aged over 80. Conclusion It is import to choose the appropriate parameters in health risk assessment on exposure to electromagnetic radiation.
