ψψ production by quarks, gluons and B mesons

Abstract We determine, in the framework of perturbative QCD, the O( α 2 s )−O( α 4 s ) parton cross sections for ψ ψ production by quarks, gluons and B mesons. The hadronic production characteristics are compared with recent data from π − N scattering. At present energies, ψ ψ production via B meson decay is negligibly small. At collider energies, B production by ( q b) recombination constitutes, however, a considerable production mode.
