Gastrointestinal stromal tumors

The Authors report two cases of GIST and underline cythogenetic, clinic and prognostic aspects of this disease; they describe as well new histo-cyto-genetic data that identify as origin tissue interstial cells of Cajal, by immunoistochemical and genetyc tests. They also consider new diagnostic and terapeutic options based on surgical treatment. Finally controversial prognostic problems are discussed.
