Communication Framework of Hybrid Charging/Refueling Stations for Autonomous Vehicles
2019
Autonomous vehicles (AVs) are being developed using the advances in sensor, control, communication, robotics and smart energy technologies. Owing to the widespread application of AVs, the infrastructures for autonomous services are indispensable to realize machine-to-machine services. Autonomous hybrid charging/refueling stations (HCSs) have been proposed with a resilient and secure layer architecture including physical, communication, classification, queueing, financial and service layers. The higher layers’ operation depends on the information exchange between vehicles and service stations. In this work, we have developed the communication framework of HCSs for AVs. Meanwhile, new cellular networks 5G with the characteristics of high bitrate, high capacity, reliability, flexibility, low latency and application of large-scale area, is promising candidate to realize the information exchange between AVs and HCSs based on the transmission control protocol/internet protocol (TCP/IP) stacks. Furthermore, hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) is a simple protocol for raw data transfer over TCP/IP. In the proposed communication framework, four phases of information exchange between AVs and HCSs are analyzed and the designated parameters are assigned into the HTTP domain of message body.
