Hepatic Steatosis and Portal Hypertension with Presinusoidal Obstruction: Report of a Case

1963
Summary A patient is reported in whom a grossly enlarged fatty liver without cirrhosis was observed in association with portal hypertension. A careful investigation of the splanchnic hemodynamics showed a presinusoidal or sinusoidal obstruction. We suggest that the presinusoidal block was secondary to compression of intrahepatic portal radicles and/or sinusoids by fat laden parenchymal cells.
