SURFACE DRAG ON BRIDGE PIERS

An investigation has been made for the surface drag coefficient for bridge piers as influenced by a velocity gradient by the solid boundary. The partient model data,1 consisting of pier geometry, local surface drag coefficient, kinematic viscosity, free stream velocity of water, obtained from the Irrigation and Power Department, Sind have been analysed and the empirical formula for estimation of surface drag on piers has been evolved.
