Polymer‐supported trisamine (PS‐trisamine)
2003
(reagent used in the sequestration of electrophiles from solution phase organic reactions)
Form Supplied in: a variety of alternative base matrices are commercially available from a number of sources including those listed below:
Lightly cross-linked polystyrene. Argonaut: PS-Triamine (800228); Aldrich: tris(2-aminoethyl)amine polymer-bound (47,210-7); Advanced Chemtech: tris(2-aminoethyl)amine resin (1% cross-linked) (SA5033); Novabiochem: tris(2-aminoethyl)amine polystyrene (1%) (01-64-0170).
Heavily cross-linked (macroporous) polystyrene. Argonaut: ArgoPore Trisamine (800397).
Silica-immobilized trisamine. Agilent Technologies: CombiZorb S-Triamine (550145-148).
Preparative Methods: the resin is commonly prepared by the reaction of trisamine {tris(2-aminoethyl)amine [4097-89-6]} with a chloromethyl polystyrene derivative or related polymer-bound electrophile.1
Handling, Storage, and Precautions: there are no particular hazards associated with the use of PS-trisamine and it may conveniently be handled in air. Prolonged storage should be under an inert atmosphere as absorption of atmospheric CO2 can occur.
