Prevendo os níveis de poluição fecal na água e nos moluscos produzidos em fazendas marinhas das baías da Ilha de Santa Catarina

Mathematical models have been used around the world to predict pollution levels in coastal areas and to communicate to the public when safety for bathing or shellfish consumption may be compromised. Recent studies conducted by Epagri have developed regression-based models that allow predicting the coliform levels in areas used for mollusc farming in the North and South bays of Santa Catarina Island. The present document presents the main findings of these studies in a didactic way and suggests practical applications for technicians in the area of mariculture, fishing and water resources management in the region.
