LA OPINIÓN DE LOS ESTUDIANTES SOBRE EL USO DE LAS METAS DE APRENDIZAJE DE LA ESTADÍSTICA EN CURSOS INTRODUCTORIOS EN LA UNIVERSIDAD VERACRUZANA

2018
In this article the statistic education is analized to argument about the need of an innovation directed on the formation of the statistical thinking in different college careers; it is argued the relevance of the called Goals of the Statistic Learning (MAE) proposed by Gal and Garfield (1997) [9]. The MAE are presented in two groups: those focused on doing, and those oriented on the development of the statistical thinking. A questionnaire was designed to identify the use of the MAE in the given courses of the Universidad Veracruzana; it was applied to 255 students, distributed into four regions and three areas of knowledge. An exploratory analysis was performed to identify the MAE as the most and least atended; indexes were constructed by goal and with an analysis of variance of two classification criteria (region, area) significant differences in the averages were identyfied. Some of the identified goals are less atended in the health sciences area on the Veracruz region of the university. In general, students identify that the most used MAE are those focused on “doing” and the less are those focused on the “what to do”. KEYWORDS: Statistical education, Higher education, Multivariate analysis, ANOVA y MANOVA. MSC: 62P25
