Synthesis and Spectral Characteristics of Bis(Indenyl)-Titanium(IV) Dithizonate Complexes

1987
Abstract Reactions of dichloobis(indenyl) ti tanium(IV), (IN)2TiCl2, with 1,5-diarylthiocarbazones, H2Dz (aryl [dbnd] phenyl, o-chlorophenyl, p-chlorophenyl or 3,5-dimethylphenyl) in 1:1 and 1:2 molar ratios were carried out in tetrahydrofuran at room temperature using triethylamine as an HCl abstractor. The products of the type (IN)2Ti (HDz)Cl, (IN)2Ti(Dz) and (IN)2Ti(HDz)2 (IN [dbnd] indenyl; HDz− and Dz2− represent mono- and di-anions of the corresponding ligand, H2Dz) were isolated and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, magnetic moments, electrical conductance and spectroscopic (IR, 1H NMR & electronic) studies.
