MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF SPRAY COATING OF A ROLLER DIRECTLY CONTROLLED WITH AN ELECTRONIC COMPUTER

The paper presents a mathematical model of plasma spray coating of a roller controlled directly with an electronic computer, so it can make higher quality products and reduce the labour intensity. This system has a practical value for large and cylindrical workpieces. It is not easy to set up the perfect mathematical model in the thermal spray process. The mathematical model is based on the experimental data by mathematical deduction. Among others, we have overcome the difficulty of measuring coating thickness brought by the thermal expansion of the workpiece during spraying with the principal “when the river rises, the boat goes up”. The method for deducing the mathematical model and treating essential factors influencing the radial size of the roller is discussed.
