Electrolyte and method for removing color spots on surface of silverware by use of electrolyte

2014
The invention discloses an electrolyte and a method for removing color spots on the surface of silverware by the use of the electrolyte, and belongs to the technical field of silverware cleaning and maintenance. The removal problem of color spots on the surface of silverware is solved. The electrolyte is prepared from the following ingredients, by weight, 80-90 parts of deionized water, 1-15 parts of sodium ascorbate or glucose or fructose, 1-15 parts of sodium oxalate or sodium acetate or sodium citrate, 0.01-0.02 part of benzotriazol, 0.02-0.03 part of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole and 0.05-0.15 part of tween 20. By the use of the electrolyte, the silverware is cathode, a carbon rod is anode, and a DC power supply is connected for electrolysis so as to remove spots. Voltage of the DC power supply is 1.5-3.0 V, and the distance between the anode and the cathode is 1-5 cm. By energization and electrolysis for 1-60s, color spots, especially silver sulfide and silver oxide, on the surface of the silverware are removed by reduction. According to the electrolyte and the method for removing color spots, silver-plated or fine pattern-decorated silverware can effectively be processed. The invention has advantages as follows: operation is convenient; no active metal or corrosive substances need to participate in the reaction; and there is no potential safety hazard.
