Study on damping absorber for the irregular waves based on VOF method

Based on the Volume of Fluid Method(VOF),the wave damping absorber of the numerical wave flume for irregular waves has been developed.On the right side of the flume,a sponge layer for wave damping absorber is set at the outflow boundary,and the attenuation coefficient of the sponge layer is adopted by the liner function.The absorber effect of different attenuation coefficients and parameters of sponge layer are compared through numerical computed result of different wave parameters.The best parameter in the sponge layer is given in the scope of different wave elements.Wave signals of two gauges are isolated by Two Point Method.The wave reflectivity meets the computed demand,computed spectrum is implemented by FFT and the computed spectrum agrees well with the target spectrum.It is shown that boundary treatment is very good by the sponge layer.
