Application of zirconium dioxide all-ceramic crown and metal-ceramic crown for anterior teeth restoration

2013
Objective:To discuss the clinical efficacy of zirconium dioxide all-ceramic crown for anterior teeth restoration. Methods:A total of 174 teeth from 75 patients admitted to our hospital from January 2010 to May 2011 for porcelain crown or fixed bridge anterior teeth restoration were enrolled and divided into treatment group and control group randomly. The treatment group had zirconium dioxide all ceramic crown for anterior teeth restoration, while control group had nichrome-porcelain crown restoration.Appearance and color changes of restorations, together with its impact on gingiva in both groups were observed shortly and one year after the restoration. Results:No obvious appearance or color changes were observed in restorations of two groups. And the incidence of gingival discoloration and gingivitis in treatment group was significantly lower than that in control group(P0.05).Conclusion:With advantages of aesthetic appearance and minor impacts on gingival tissue, zirconium dioxide all-ceramic crown is an ideal material for anterior teeth restoration.
