Non-doped blue fluorescent emitting materials with donor-π-acceptor-π-donor structures based 1,2,4-triazole/carbazole derivatives

Abstract Two blue emitters based 1,2,4-triazole acceptor, carbazole and tert-butyl carbazole donor, namely 2pCzTAZ and 2tCzTAZ, were designed and synthesized. They exhibited obvious charge-transfer excited state, and blue emission with photoluminescent peaks at 425 nm in thin films. The highest occupied molecular orbital energy levels of 2pCzTAZ and 2tCzTAZ were -5.77 and -5.66 eV, respectively. The non-doped devices employing 2pCzTAZ as emitters achieved deep-blue emission with CIE coordinates (0.16, 0.08) and the maximum luminance of 2 438 cd/A, indicating two novel emitters have huge potential applications in non-dope blue fluorescent OLEDs.
