Bruselloz olgularının incelenmesi

One hundred and twenty four cases of brucellosis, hospitalized in the clinic of infectious diseases, Ataturk University Research Hospital were evaluated between October-1985 - August 1996 years. The patients were retrospectively investigated with respect to clinical, epidemiological and laboratory findingis and treatment and complications. Of ihe cases 42 wer women (33,9%) and 82 (64,1%) men with the age range of 14-72 years (average 33,5 years). The history of consuming unpasteuri/ed milk products was present at the 86 (69,4 %) of the cases. Four cases (2 shepherdi, 1 veterinarian and 1 butcher) had history of contact the infected animals. The patients symptom and physical examination findings were as follows: 92,7 % of the cases had fever, 80,6% night sweats, 75,8% osteoarticular manifestations, 42,7% splenomegaly, 21,0% hepatomegaly, 6,4% meningeal irritation findings, 2,4% unilateral epididimorsit and 1,6% endocarditis. The laboratory findings of the patients were as follows: 71,8% of the cases had increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate in 50,0% patients had leucopenia and 10,5% RF - positive, 5,6% patients were blood culture - positive. Recurrence was. seen in 14,5% of cases treatment were applied the combination of doksisiklin 200 mg day for 6 wekks and streptomycin lgday 1M for 3 weeks.
