Photosensitive Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) Thin Film Grown at Room Temperature by Novel Chemical Method

2011
The current paper incorporates a novel chemical deposition method to grown Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) thin film at room temperature on glass and FTO substrates. In order to improve the properties, CZTS thin films are annealed at 673 K for 3 h in air and the changes in structural, morphological and optical properties are studied by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), Raman spectroscopy, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV-vis spectroscopy techniques. The photo activity of CZTS is tested by forming photoelectrochemical cell with polyiodide electrolyte. The experimental results showed that the chemicaly deposited photosensitive CZTS thin films can be a potential candidate in solar energy conversion.
