X-56A Aeroelastic Flight Test Predictions

2016
The unstructured fixed wing flow solver CREATE-AV Kestrel was used to perform high-fidelity aeroelastic simulations of the X-56A aircraft undergoing maneuvers, representative of flight test. Validation of the predicted aerodynamic performance characteristics are performed through comparison of force and moment coefficients with ground and flight test results. All grids were constructed using CREATE-MG Capstone. Aeroelastic validation will be performed by assessing loads, accelerometer data, leading edge stagnation point, and body-freedom flutter onset speed from future NASA Armstrong flight tests.
