Relationship of high mobility group A2 protein and vascular endothelial growth factor-C expression with Iymph node metastasis in non-small cell lung cancer

2011
Objective To investigate the relationship of high mobility group A2 protein (HMGA2)and vascular endothelial growth factor-C (VEGF-C) expressions with lymph node metastasis in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).Methods Total RNA was extracted in NSCLC group and normal control group and then reversely transcribed to cDNA.HMGA2 and VEGF-C expressions were assayed by realtime quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Results HMGA2 and VEGF-C expressions had significant difference between NSCLC group and normal control group ( P < 0.05).HMGA2 and VEGF-C expressions in NSCLC patients with lymph node metastasis were significantly higher than those in patients without lymph node metastasis ( P <0.05).Conclusions This study suggests that HMGA2 and VEGF-C are highly expressed in NSCLC tissues, which may be correlated with metastasis of lung cancer.Combined detection of HMGA2 and VEGF-C is of value in assessing the prognosis of NSCLC and provides a new method for targeted therapy of NSCLC.
