Aim : The aim of this study is to investigate family functionality with psychological needs. All people create their own lives, direct their feelings, thoughts and actions in line with their lives. In other words, the self-structures they shape, shape their choices and thus their lives. The level of family functioning of the family affects the development of the self. Therefore, psychological needs cannot be considered independent of family functionality. Method: 189 women (69%) and 85 men (31%) were included in the study. In this research, it was aimed to investigate family functionality in predicting psychological needs. So multiple regression analyses was performed. Results: According to the findings, it can be said that the sub-dimensions of the family functionality explain 85% of Love/Belongin sub dimension, %25 of Freedom sub dimension, %44 of Fun sub dimension and %48 of Power sub dimension of psychological needs. Conclusion: As a result, psychological needs are explained by family functioning. While sub-dimensions of love and belonging can be realized with at least two people, power and freedom remain more individual. Therefore, the family, which is considered to be the first social institution in the life of the individual, satisfies the need for love/belonging and fun much more.
