Cloning of Human Tumor Cells in Methylcellulose-Containing Medium

1984
A colony assay for cells from human solid tumors has attracted a great deal of interest due to its use in studies comparing in vitro and in vivo sensitivities to anticancer drugs for clinical cancer chemotherapy (Salmon et al. 1978; Von Hoff et al. 1981). In addition, potential benefit for more basic studies on the biological characteristics of human tumor cells can be expected, since it allows on the growth of primary tumor cells at a clonal level.
