Unconfined Free Over-fall

1964
This paper presents an experimental investigation on the unconfined free over-falls below channels of rectangular, triangular, trapezoidal and parabolic forms with a horizontal bed. The lateral variation and trajectory characteristics of the nappe in all these cases have been studied. It has been found that the brink depth for a rectangular channel with an unconfined nappe is about 1-4 per cent less than that with a confined nappe.
