SPECT and planar imaging of a lingual thyroid gland

The authors present an interesting case of lingual thyroid imaged with 1-123 and Tc-99m pertechnetate and planar and SPECT images. Both sets of images clearly show the ectopic nature of the disease. There was no evidence of a typical cervical thyroid.
