Assessment of Physiological Strain in Male Food Crop Cultivators Engaged in Manual Reaping Task

Paddy cultivation is the main livelihood for the majority of population in West Bengal. During the paddy cultivation time, majority of human resources work manually in the agricultural field irrespective of variations in weather conditions, which may have some impact on the health status of the human resources. In this backdrop, a study has been undertaken to assess physiological strain due to work and exposure to different thermal working environmental conditions in male food crop cultivators of a southern district of West Bengal. From the results of the present study, it may be concluded that human resources engaged in paddy cultivation experience different degrees of physiological strain.
