Introducing Critical Reading to Senior High School Students with Web 2.0 Tools as Authentic Materials Source

Instagram is one of web 2.0 tools that can be used in EFL classroom. As one of the biggest and most popular social media platforms nowadays, it is not only beneficial for comunication and entertainment but also beneficial for education. In age of education where teaching materials now should be related with our daily life or real world, Instagram can be a blessing for educational purposes. It is one of web 2.0 tools where students get exposed to authentic materials. Authentic materials is one of teaching materials that is not designed for learning purposes but are used as learning materials (Richards, 2001). Through instagram, students build their critical and creativity skill in unique ways. Instagram also gives students opportunity to enhance academic and social skills by learning and sharing information. This article explores instagram as authentic materials source that can enhance students’ critical reading. This article consists of teachers’ experience and concludes with a discussion about benefits of integration of Instagram in EFL classroom.
