Velocity Correlation for Finite Bubbles Rising in an Inclined Channel

1993
The rise velocity of finite-volume bubbles in inclined channels for various channel widths are analysed, the variation of the rise velocity with the bubble size and with the angle of inclination as well as the channel width are discussed. In the vertical case, the data are compared with various correlations, including those incorporating the wall effects. A correlation procedure is given based on the measured vertical rise velocity and a horizontal velocity. Methods for evaluating this horizontal velocity component are given and discussed. Data available in the literature are also analysed and found to be well correlated.
